The Tretyakov Gallery received a gift from Nexia Pacioli
The painting "Portrait of the poet E. Yevtushenko " was donated to the The Tretyakov Gallery's collection by Nexia Pacioli in 2017. Special event dedicated to the handover was held in the New Tretyakov Gallery on February 13, 2018.
The painting "Portrait of the poet E. Yevtushenko " (1959) by Boris Birger (1923-2001), a nonconformist artist who created a gallery of images of outstanding cultural figures of his time, was purchased by the museum’s request. "The portrait by Boris Birger complements significantly the collection of the artist's works in the museum,” said Tatyana Karpova, The Tretyakov Gallery Deputy Director for Science.
Svetlana Romanova, CEO of Nexia Pacioli, noted that the company has been a member of the Tretyakov Gallery Society of Friends for many years. Nexia Pacioli takes part in the purchase or restoration of significant works of Russian art: "Our choice is always thoughtful and responsible, whether it is a picture, an icon or a sculpture. In 2017 we purchased a portrait of legendary Russian poet Yevgeny Yevtushenko who died that year.”
“Nexia Pacioli not only provides its clients with high quality service. We also see our mission in popularisation the Russian art, drawing the attention of society to the important role of art for the young generation. Therefore I'm especially grateful for the opportunities to provide help to the Tretyakov Gallery – the museum that continues the life-work of Pavel Tretyakov, introducing this country with the national artistic heritage,” said Svetlana Romanova.
The Tretyakov Gallery is the main museum of Russian national art. It is a hospitable museum that is known for its rich collection and variety of presented ideas.
